halloween in August?

Hi there!

I thought I'd change it up and make a Halloween card! :)

supplies: CS: black (Bazzill), green (DeNami Design), Solar White (Neenah); DP: K&Company; stamps: Trick or Sweet (Taylored Expressions), Halloween Stamp Set (DeNami Design), Square Word Bubble (DeNami Design); ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento); other: ribbon, dimensional adhesive, Copic Markers

So I found this little image all colored in my drawer without a place to go. Seems like that's been happening lately, hasn't it? I have a tendency to color images and then they'll sit on my desk or in my drawer for months before using them!

Actually, this little "Elphaba" (get it? She's the witch from "Wicked!" *lol*) was actually colored a year ago when I intended for her to be on this card.

Geez, can you believe it's been a year since that post??? This little witch even survived our BIG MOVE into our new house! Whoa.

Anyway, I had the urge to make a Halloween card. I was getting in a birthday/thank you/thinking of you rut and I wanted to change it up and give myself a change of scenery. :) Hope you like the card. I think it turned out so cute!

Taylored Expressions Blast From the Past August Blog Hop!

Hello and Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Welcome to one of my most favorite days of the month - the Taylored Expressions Blast From the Past Blog Hop! I absolutely love this time of the month - I get to play with my very much neglected, but very loved "old" TE stamps!

For this month's card, I decided to create a Halloween card using one of my most favorite TE stamp sets: Trick or Sweet. I don't know about you, but I'm getting super excited for Halloween this year and I'm TOTALLY loving all things SPOOKY and FUN! Isn't my little Cuppie Dracula and Frankenstein super cute? I wanted to include Elphaba from Wicked, but she couldn't fit. Oh well, I'll save her for another card!

I used the Martha Stewart Halloween DP, along with her fence punch and added a little "moon" in the corner of the card. I love this card, it's one of my favorites!

Taylored Expressions Blast From the Past July Blog Hop!

Hello again, everyone, and welcome to my stop on the Taylored Expressions Blast from the Past July Blog Hop! This is my 3rd time participating in these awesome blog hops and I'm loving every minute of it! They're so much fun and I really love ANY excuse to use my TE stamps!

For today's blog hop, we had the option of creating a card using a sketch by the awesome Sankari Wegman:

And here's my take on it... Notice I didn't use ANY ribbon - HUGE accomplishment for me! *lol*

AND, I even created an INSIDE to it!

For my card I used the newest Summertime Project Pantry kit. I really love the bright, fun colors of this one and thought it would be awesome to pair it with TE's Doctor's Orders stamps. It should brighten anyone's day if they're they're feeling under the weather, right?

For my card I used one of the adorable Cuppie images from the Sweet Celebration set and used this month's Key Ingredients kit. You'll be seeing me use this kit a LOT this week! I love how it's so versatile! :)

a quick challenge card!

Hi again everyone!

I have to make this super quick - the kids are really fighting for my attention today and they're driving me nuts! *lol* I'm so tired - I spent most of last night catching up on TiVo. My hubby works nights and the only time I get the TV to myself is when he's at work and when the kids are ASLEEP!

Anyway, I managed to create one card last night for a couple of challenges that I've been itching to participate in!

I created this card for Jenny's fabulous Sky's the Limit Challenge #7! I've been in AWE with what she does with cloud stamps so I had to get my hands on one. I couldn't decide because there are so many out there, but I finally settled on a Hero Arts one - I LOVE it! I can't wait to play with it more!

I also used one of my favorite Cuppie stamps from Taylored Expressions - Cuppie Love Scenes and used some of the Valentine's KI kit. Yippee! The sentiment is from DeNami.

AND, my card is based off of TE's Sketch #114.

Super proud of myself for getting a couple challenges done with one card that's NOT a part of my normal DT work!

TE Sketch Challenges turns 100!

I think I came down to the wire and I got my card done just in time for Taylored Expressions' 100th Sketch Challenge!

Picture this: both of my kids were asleep for their naps AT THE SAME TIME. I could hardly contain myself - I HAD to get ONE card done! So I cruised around my favorite challenge blogs and TE's 100th sketch screamed my name! I had to complete a card for this challenge - I just HAD to!

I apologize for the terrible photo. The sun hasn't been around much today. :(

Anyone out there with a photo tent? What do you think of it? Do you love it? Any advice?

Well, I'm going to try and do a post a day for the month of December. The idea just came to me just now so I don't know how successful I'll be! Since you all know that my daughter has taken over my office and I'm still awaiting my iMac to finally arrive, I don't know if posting once a day will even be possible!

But I'll try.

For the month of December, I promise to:

1) post once a day
2) post about anything I want - my arts & crafts, favorite recipes, favorite photos - anything I want to share that day.

Sound good?

AND, it's going to be definitely challenging for me from December 6-9 - we'll be in Disneyland!

Anyway, here's my share for today:

It's a new card featuring a new favorite image from C.C. Designs Winter Emma image. (forgive me, I can't remember her name and am too lazy to find out right now!). I decided to color her in some fun colors and give her some UGG boots (my favorite winter accessory!). The sentiment is from AmyR's Winter Sentiments over at All that Scraps as well! Love her sentiments!

I used Taylored Expressions' Christmas Key Ingredients kit for this card as well - I really love that Jolly By Golly paper from Cosmo Cricket! A girl can't get enough! :)

i can't believe it's almost christmas...

Okay. Fine. We still have a little over a month and a half to do shopping, but still - it sure FEELS like it's almost Christmas. All of the decorations are at the stores and I'm getting bombarded with catalogs at home!

Anyway, today's card is a Christmas one. Just in time for Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge. :)

I used Taylored Expressions' Christmas Key Ingredients and TE's Home Sweet Home set. Another intimidating image for me to color! Do you SEE how much area I needed to cover? But I'm super happy I got the practice using my copics. :) I added some Diamond Stickles to give the gumdrops a little bling and used a sentiment from my "Chit Chat" Rub-ons pack from SU! At first I wanted to cut Cuppie out but I wanted to keep the music notes floating around him somehow. I guess this worked. If I use him again anytime soon, I may do something different.

i love cupcakes.

Seriously. I love cupcakes. Homemade ones. Store-bought ones. Specialty-ones, though, seem to be my fave. Sprinkles is ok, but Kara's is my FAVORITE right now. The Chocolate Velvet... YUMMMM... And the Fleur Du Sel... Party in my mouth - for REAL. :)

And I'm addicted to cupcake stamps. Little Cuppy from Taylored Expressions is just so ADORABLE! I can't resist him, so any chance I get (via their sales during their monthly release), I try to add him & the rest of his friends to my rubber collection. :)

Today's card feature's TE's Season's Sweetings set. :) At first I was a little apprehensive in using this image - it's a lot of coloring! And I messed up the tree, but I really like the way it came out!

I also used this week's Mercy's Tuesday Sketch challenge. :) LOVE her sketches. I'm so glad I was able to play this week!

And I got to play along with Sparkle's Christmas card challenge this week too! Yippee!

This has got to be one of my favorite recent Christmas cards I've made. I'm not normally excited for the holidays (they stress me out!) but this year I'm starting to get really excited - maybe it's because we've got 2 kids now and it's so wonderful to experience Christmas through their eyes. Maybe I'm becoming more patient in my old age. *lol* Who knows? I may change my mind and become Grinch-y again when I have to brave the mall-crowds and fight people for parking!

Anyway, have a beautiful Sunday! I'm actually off work tonight and we're headed to the Pumpkin Patch this afternoon! Yay!

my rubber stamping journey

I started scrapbooking back in 1997. I went to my first Creative Memories party and I was instantly hooked. I liked creating art using photos. I liked shopping for supplies. I liked the friendships I made through such a great hobby.

But my hobby went through its peaks and valleys. I'd be on a roll for months and then hit a dry spell that lasted just as long, if not longer. I found it difficult to keep up with the trends and the enabling (and man, scrapbooking is such an EXPENSIVE hobby!).

So I started to make cards a couple of years ago, using the scraps I had on hand. My first designs were simple...

And then I discovered the world of rubber stamping last year. I signed on to be a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, not really knowing where to begin. I knew I wanted to build my rubber stamp supply, but then what?

And then one day I searched for "Copics" on You Tube. I had heard about them through Split Coast Stampers and was curious... and then I wanted to try them out... and then I need stamps to try them out with...and paper to try them out on... and then it all just kind of snowballed.

And here is where we are today!

 

Super simple card share today. Since coming back from vacation, I've had laundry to fold, a house that needed to be cleaned, dishes that needed to be done, an office that needed tidying up. Whew. I did the best I could!

This card is for this week's Crazy 4 Challenges (C4C4) sketch by Cindy Haffner.

I thought I'd use my Taylored Expressions Trick or Sweet I set since Halloween is coming up! Is anyone dressing up? I haven't decided what DH and I should be yet. But Malia will be Dorothy and Jonah will be a scarecrow. We also have one of our friends' kids dressing up as the Lion. We need a Tin Man! So far, no takers. :(
