new favorite stamps + challenges!

Hi everyone!

It's kind of a late post today. We got back from our Alaska Cruise (recap coming soon!) on Friday night and I'm still trying to get back into the swing of things here at home. We have loads of laundry to still fold and put away, I'm back to meal planning, and I'm trying to really & seriously get back into the world of crafting! To top it off, I'm back to work tomorrow night (boo).

Anyway, I wanted to share a card I made today while Lady M was asleep for her nap:

I used a digi stamp Beach Babe Kaylee from Some Odd Girl. Have you heard of these stamps? I've been SO out of the loop in the stamping world for the past 8 or so months that these stamps are somewhat new to me - she's my first one from SOG and I'm absolutely in LOVE!

There's an SOG challenge going on too: White/Kraft & Color Pops Challenge. Use white or kraft on a card with only 2 supporting colors. My 2 colors are blue and red. :) I thought it would be perfect for this upcoming 4th of July holiday weekend.

When I was making this card, I also thought of joining in on the challenge over at Stampin' Sisters in Christ: Make a red, white, & blue thank you card.

So yay! 2 challenges in 1 card - it's been a while and I'm pooped! Have a great night everyone!

Quick post today!

Today's card features an image that I received from a Copic Practice Image swap on SCS a few months ago. I think that hedgehog giving a flower to that mouse is SO cute!

I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch (MOJO110). I kind of played around with the sketch and adapted it to fit my A2 card. I also used the theme this week for Stampin' Sisters in Christ (SSCC10) - create a card of thankfulness. I really thought this was such a cute image to showcase that - the hedgehog and mouse are too adorable!

The rest of the card features CS and DP from this month's Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients kit. I LOVE this month's kit because it has October Afternoon's Earth Love paper in it! I just inked up the edges of the DP with some brown chalk ink, cut the image out with my Nestabilities and colored it with Copics. :) Fun!

tales from my craft room...

As I type this, M is taking her nap in her Pack 'N Play - in MY craft room.

You see, our home has 3 bedrooms - the master bedroom and 1 bedroom (Jonah's) is upstairs. the 3rd bedroom is downstairs. It's already an established office/scrap space for me and it was too hard to sleep train Malia in a room completely on a different floor! So, poor thing - she sleeps in the office for her naps... and at night she sleeps upstairs in a 2nd Pack 'N Play in our bedroom (so I can craft!)

Last night was my first night to myself in a LONG while. Both kids were in bed by 9pm - so I was able to create a couple of cards... I'll be sharing them with you over the next few days. :)

Here's the first:

It's based off of this week's sketch challenge at Card Patterns. Simple card... I also made it for this week's Stampin' Sister's In Christ challenge - create a baby card/project! I made it super simple because I thought I'd keep it on hand just in case I need to give it to a mommy-to-be of a boy OR a girl. I'm probably going to add a little baby boy/girl image whenever the need arises.

You can't really tell, but I tried my hand at paper tole with this card. I realized after I took the pic and uploaded it to my laptop that I should have probably taken a pic at a different angle so you can see it! Oh well. *lol* But I popped the little bear's head and legs with some dimensionals. I liked paper tole-ing (is that a word? *lol*), I'm going to have to try and find more images to do it on!

hello Fall!

**this is my second post for today... please scroll down for today's previous post. thanks!**

I swear I can't believe it's already OCTOBER. Where did 2009 go? It seems like yesterday that I was pregnant with my baby girl and anticipating on going on maternity leave! And not it's October and she's 6 months old and crawling all over the place, getting into everything! These next 3 months until Christmas are seriously going to FLY BY. I'm SO not ready.

Anyway, here's the card for this afternoon...

I'm submitting it for the following challenges:

So, this card started out as a 6x6 card... But then I realized, hey, it doesn't have to be a folding card, the original sketch had a pull out tag (well, at least that's what it looked like to me!). I decided to use that tag for the inside sentiment.

I got this "Thoughts and Prayers" SU! set because I figured that it would be nice to have on hand for those sympathy cards that are so hard to create sometimes. I don't know about you, but I'm always at a loss for what to say on those things! They're not the easiest to create, but I know that they're the cards that mean the most to some people.

I placed my last SU! order as a demonstrator last week. I didn't fill my whole wishlist (that would require a lot of $$), but I did get what I wanted. (Hey, my DH just got himself a "new" motorcycle. It's only fair I support my hobby too, right? *lol*) I ordered a bunch of Big Shot dies and Texturz plates, some ribbon, punches, and a couple of stamp sets...

Anyway, and I FINALLY had a chance to play with my September Key Ingredients kit! I LOVE the colors in the kit - so pretty. Definitely PERFECT for Fall

I really enjoyed playing with this sketch... It allowed me to make another 6x6 card that I have a difficult time with. I thought that using this Anya from The Greeting Farm would be perfect for a Fall card... And I had to use my newest SU! set (Holiday Best) for the sentiment. You all KNOW that holiday cards are my weakness! *lol*

SSCC #4: Feeling Fowl?

There's a new challenge sketch posted at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges! I'm becoming a fan of their awesome sketches and feeling really inspired by the scriptures the DT chooses each week! BTW, they have a DT call going on right now! I'd love to try out, but I don't think I could make the commitment right now. :(

This week's SSCC sketch looked square to me, so I adapted it to fit a rectangular card.  I really love this stamp set from  C.C. Designs! The images are TOO cute. If you were feeling under the weather, wouldn't that cheer you up? :)

I even made an inside to it:

 

I probably could have done more to the inside, but I was pressed for time! Oh well...

These next couple of weeks are going to be pretty busy for me - work, work, work and then it's off to Disneyland we go! I'm going to try and get as much creative time in before then and schedule some blog posts so you all don't get bored and abandon me! *lol*

I also got my hands on my first kit to work on as part of The Greeting Farm's Digital Creative Team so I really can't wait to play with that! Stay tuned!

challenges challenges CHALLENGES!

I started my journey into the rubber stamping/cardmaking world as a scrapbooker. I quickly discovered that SBing world has got some differences with stamping and cardmaking. A couple examples? Scrapbooking forums sometimes turn catty pretty quickly (just my observation!). Rubber stamping forums are more relaxed. Another example? There are a TON of card making challenges out there! There are a ton of scrapbooking ones too, don't get me wrong, but I find those are difficult for me sometimes - too many requirements and restrictions. But I've quickly discovered I LOVE cardmaking challenges! And the more I can accomplish with ONE card, the more awesome it feels. Seriously!

This weekend was Taylored Expressions birthday bash. It was filled with challenges by the DT - each one hosted a challenge. 13 in all! The great part is that you can COMBINE challenges. How awesome is THAT?!

I don't own any TE stamps (yet!) so it was a little hard for me to come up with cards - but that's ok. Another great part about the challenge was that you weren't limited to using only TE stamps. Very cool.

I'm bummed that I had to work all weekend (except Saturday when I spent the day at the doctor's office after work because Jonah was super sick!) but I did get to get a couple cards created. I'm hoping to complete all THIRTEEN challenges by tomorrow - wish me LUCK! (and wish me luck that I get called off tonight too!)

So, lemme tell you about the card and challenges:

TEBBTV: This one was an inspiration photo challenge. The photo had some primary colors so I drew inspiration from that for my card.

TEBBKM: Challenge #2 was based off of a sketch.

TEBBJP:  Use stitching! I never stitch or sew on my projects - I have no idea how to sew and stitching takes a lot of time! But this was fun stitching around my main image. AND I used some old Making Memories embroidery floss (MM Stitches - who remembers that AND still has it in their stash?!)

BONUS: I can also submit this card for TWO more challenges! That's FIVE challenges in ALL! *happy dance* Yay!

TGF's Farm Fresh Friday!: It's What's on the Inside That Counts
I don't normally make the insides of cards, but I'm starting to! The inside of this card is SUPER simple. I didn't know what image to use, so I used a SU! greeting from the Crab & Company retired set.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge: Create a card inspiring a child or a teacher
Super easy. I used this TGF Wild Sprouts Annika - perfect for back to school week! This is a challenge blog I found by following Lisa Hjulberg (love love LOVE her work!) This is a great challenge blog - so inspirational and positive. I'm so glad I found it and I plan on doing more of their challenges!

WHEW! I still am SO GIDDY about doing FIVE challenges with one single card! I can't explain it but I really feel a sense of getting something DONE the more challenges I complete!

I really love the rubber stamping world! (And that's not to say I don't love the scrapbooking world just as much! I just feel like I can get more done in a faster amount of time! :)
