just one of those cards...

I was working on cards late on Thursday night and I came up with one of "those" cards... You know the card you're not TOO happy with but you decide to go with it anyway? Yeah, I'm talking about that kind...

I had this Hippie Anya colored a while ago... I think I colored her for an old Anyone for Anya challenge a couple weeks ago - use the colors of your country's flag... So what started out as the red, white, and blue of the American flag ended up with a twinge of yellow to represent the Philippines. I was born in California but my heritage is Filipino so I thought I'd rep both. :)

Anyway, while this card is for an old challenge, it also qualifies for 2 current ones: over at Club Anya it's "Pattern Me Not" - no use of Patterned Paper! Ack! Such a huge CHALLENGE for me because I really LOVE ME some patterned paper! I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the card base and the red and white - I don't think you can see it very well...

I used my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder and my rings Quickutz embossing folder for the card base. The sentiment is from SU!

This card is based of this week's Mojo Monday (MOJO112). I kind of made it more simple than it already is. :)

Quick post today!

Today's card features an image that I received from a Copic Practice Image swap on SCS a few months ago. I think that hedgehog giving a flower to that mouse is SO cute!

I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch (MOJO110). I kind of played around with the sketch and adapted it to fit my A2 card. I also used the theme this week for Stampin' Sisters in Christ (SSCC10) - create a card of thankfulness. I really thought this was such a cute image to showcase that - the hedgehog and mouse are too adorable!

The rest of the card features CS and DP from this month's Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients kit. I LOVE this month's kit because it has October Afternoon's Earth Love paper in it! I just inked up the edges of the DP with some brown chalk ink, cut the image out with my Nestabilities and colored it with Copics. :) Fun!

I remember singing that song as a kid... I think we learned it in school. Brings back memories. :)

Today's card features a Stampavie dragon stamp I picked up at 7 Kids College Fund... I had my eye on it for a while and was happily surprised to find it on sale/clearance! :) I think it's perfect for boy birthday cards (or girl ones, of course). It seems like all of our friends have little BOYS. Malia is the only girl amongst 3 of our friendship circles. Isn't that crazy? We're going to be in trouble when she's a teenager, that's for sure!

I used Mojo Monday's sketch this week and flipped it. :)

For some reason, Typepad is being weird so I can't change the colors of my text on my posts. Ugh. How frustrating!

This has been one crazy week, that's for sure!

I had been meaning to participate in a few challenges (I have them written down in my calendar!) but I didn't have a chance. The days just seemed to fly by and I never had a chance to do anything crafty!

Yesterday was my 5 year wedding anniversary and I still haven't made my DH a card! How terrible is THAT?! (He's got an "I.O.U." coming anyway. *lol*)

The card I'm sharing tonight features one of my new Verve "Express Yourself" stamp set. I also used September's Key Ingredients kit from Taylored Expressions.

It started off based on a sketch from Mojo Monday a few weeks ago. I never finished it in time and so it lay on my desk for a while.

(*lol* You can see Jonah's finger on the left of the card. He wanted to play with it while I was trying to take the picture! Anyway...)

I really like the set from Verve. Super cute! I'm still trying to find a happy medium with my clear stamps and what ink to use (BTW, thank you to everyone who gave me advice on my previous post. I'm going to try all of those tips out soon!)

Anyway, I'm hoping to get back in my stamping groove this week. I'm going through "challenge" withdrawals since I didn't even participate in ONE this whole week!

The good news is that my wonderful DH got me a new TV for my scrap area so now I can keep up with all my DVR'd shows while I create (I just have to get the cable installed in that room and I'll be good to go. Yippee!).

hello Fall!

I swear I can't believe it's already OCTOBER. Where did 2009 go? It seems like yesterday that I was pregnant with my baby girl and anticipating on going on maternity leave! And not it's October and she's 6 months old and crawling all over the place, getting into everything! These next 3 months until Christmas are seriously going to FLY BY. I'm SO not ready.

Anyway, here's the card for this afternoon...

So, this card started out as a 6x6 card... But then I realized, hey, it doesn't have to be a folding card, the original sketch had a pull out tag (well, at least that's what it looked like to me!). I decided to use that tag for the inside sentiment.

I got this "Thoughts and Prayers" SU! set because I figured that it would be nice to have on hand for those sympathy cards that are so hard to create sometimes. I don't know about you, but I'm always at a loss for what to say on those things! They're not the easiest to create, but I know that they're the cards that mean the most to some people.

I was worried I wouldn't be able to post today. Tonight begins yet another 3 night stretch of work for me (don't worry, I have posts prescheduled! *lol*)

Jonah has been pretty active lately now that his bout with the flu is over. And my almost-6-month-old Malia is quite the handful now that she's discovered CRAWLING (not super coordinated yet, but homegirl can get herself from point A to point B in a FLASH when we're not looking! We swear she thinks she's older than she really IS!)

So my beloved craft time is slowly dwindling. I try to sneak in coloring or cardmaking everyday, but with 2 kids under 3, I'm LUCKY if both are napping at the same time and when that happens, I've got chores around the house to do, phone calls to return, DVR I need to catch up on, or sleep I sorely miss.

My next request from my DH is a TV in my craft room (complete with a DVD player and DVR hook up! Too many fall shows that I need to keep up with!

Anyway, here's the card for today:

I had a chance to play along with Mojo Monday's sketch this week and was super happy with the results! I would have used circles, but ovals were speaking to me this week. (And my scallop oval Nestabilities set just came in the mail and I hadn't used them yet! *lol*)

And I used my BFF's wedding colors too for this card. (Whattup, Corinne! *lol*)

Isn't this Gorjuss Girl so cute? I really love this image. I really need to start using my Sugar Nellie stamps more!

In other news... I recently discovered Dustin Pike's digital stamps. The images are SO cute! Well, his stuff is getting turned into rubber so he's having a HUGE blowout sale on his digital stuff! $25 for 130 images! See the details HERE.

Ooh and I got  my  first Key Ingredients kit from Taylored  Expressions yesterday! I'm so bummed I have to work all weekend. :( I really want to play with it!

Jennifer McGuire is one my all time favorite paper crafters. The things she can do with Hero Arts stamps is AMAZING.

So when she and a couple other gals decided to organize a card drive for Kate McRae, a 5 year old little girl battling cancer, and her family - I thought it would be nice to participate.

I also actually took the time to create an inside of the card where I'll write a little message to Kate. I hope she and her family like the card.

Mojo Monday!

A few weeks ago I discovered Mojo Monday and added them to my Google Reader. I never had a chance to play along with their sketch challenges but I've always found their sketches really inspiring and motivational... and out-of-the-box for me.

Last week, I guess, was their 100 week anniversary and they had sketches everyday!  Super fun. I only had a chance to work on one, but I'm really happy with the way it turned out...
