Happy New Year and some NEWS!

Hi everyone! Happy New Year!

Can you believe that we can now officially say that it's the year 2015?! I know I can't! Time just seems to fly by so fast! Eek!

I'll be back for a year in review post, but for now I wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR and share some pretty sweet news.

 

I've been asked to be a part of the Scrappy Moms Stamps Design Team! *happy dance* Hooray!

If you didn't already know, Scrappy Moms Stamps has got some REALLY cute sentiment stamps that are mostly geared toward SVG type of cards (like Cricut and Silhouette), but I know they'll be REALLY good with Copic-colored images too. And you KNOW that's what I love to create!

I can't wait to get started and work on some projects so be sure to check out my blog often for more! Thank you, Melanie & Tammy for this wonderful opportunity! I'm so excited!

C.C. Designs card and DT Call!

Happy Saturday, everyone!

A few weeks ago Jerodelle told me about the DT call going on over at C.C. Designs, and I totally had been thinking about doing it - my BFF is currently on the team and she loves it. And when she told me about the call too, I thought I'd give it a try.

Here's the card I created:

I used Dotty from C.C. Designs and colored her up with my Copics - the nice thing about this DT call is that it really lit a fire under my butt to use a few stamps that I hadn't even inked up before! LOL I also used an unused sentiment "Wish Big" from the Great Birthday Greetings stamp set also by C.C. Designs.

I kept the card super simple and used some patterned paper I had leftover from an old Simon Says Stamp card kit and cut Dotty out with my favorite My Creative Time 3x4 Journal Die and VOILA! I have another card to add to my collection and to sell in my Etsy shop HERE. :)

I'm so super excited for this DT call! And even though I may not be chosen, it was really fun using my stash and inking up stamps I've never used before! I've been a huge fan of CCD for a LONG time (see some previous posts HERE) so this was a huge honor for me. :)

My Besties card: Thinking of You

Hi friends!

This morning I have a super fun card to share with you using Little Nurse from My Besties Stamps! I picked her up at the Scrapbook Expo in March (see the VLOG video HERE!) and I just never had a chance to color her up and use her on a card! Isn't that a shame??? She's so super cute and I'm super glad I had a chance to play with her.

Here's my card:

I colored her up with my Copics and used a lot of this month's card kit from Simon Says Stamp (yay for using my stash!). I also used some Whisker Graphics twine and my 3x4 journal die from My Creative Time (my favorite die EVER). I really liked the way it turned out!

I also created this card to try out for the My Besties You Tube DT! I think it would be a lot of fun to be on a You Tube DT! There's a DT call going on right now, so be sure to check out this video for more information if you're interested too!

I wanted to create a video so I could show off this card, so check it out below and let me know what you think! :)

Cuttin' and Stampin' DT Call 2014!

Hi everyone!

Whoa... TWO posts already for 2014?! This is madness, people! haha

I thought I'd pop in really quickly - Cuttin' and Stampin' is having a DT call and I thought it would be nice to throw my hat in the ring. It'll inspire me to not only create, but to also use stuff I already have. And I figure, why not?! :)

So there you have it... My top faves of 2013! It actually felt really good to look back and see some of the work I've done last year - it's a good motivator to do MORE! And it makes me want to take pics with my DSLR for my projects - nothing beats the quality, not even the iPhone. It's just that the iPhone is SOOOO convenient! *lol*

Anyway, it's the beginning of the new year, and part of the DT application is a short little bio so here it is:

My name is JoAnn, a lot of my friends and crafty pals call me "Jo." I'm a wife, a mom to 3 (an almost-7 year old, an almost-5 year old, and a 1 year old), a night shift nurse, and a lover of all things papercrafty! One of my 2014 goals is to blog more and create more so here I am! *lol* I'm also a You-Tuber with about 1,100 subscribers - which is such a surprise and a humongous HONOR because I really don't feel that relevant in the world. So I'm really into coloring a ton of images and having them ready for, if, and when, I get a chance to make a card. I have 15 or so images I've already colored so far that need homes! Crazy, right? Thankfully, I have my 2013 list of goals to keep me motivated to push through this...

Yay for:

• inking up a stamp I have never used. I can't remember what this adorable Magnolia Tilda is called but I do believe it's the first time I've used her on a card.
• using my stash: the MFT file die-namics, the white embossing powder, the twine, the deckle Nestabilities, and even the paper pad are all things I've never used. Yay for using my stash!
• blogging (yes, I'm going to have to say it every time I do it. It'll show accountability!)

Super quick post today, folks! I realized that I forgot to share a card that I created for The Greeting Farm's recent DT call. Unfortunately, I didn't make it (*tear*), but that's ok. I'm a firm believer in thinking positively and if it was meant to be, it's meant to be! :)

There's also some SUPER talented gals out ther who LOVE The Greeting Farm as much as I do - there's a TON of stiff competition out there!

SOG Guest DT try-out!

Hi All!

It's been one busy and overwhelming week! I'm JUST NOW able to post after being MIA for a few days. How's everyone doing?

This week I had to co-op in J's preschool class while, at the same time, DH co-opped in M's class. Pretty fun. I love working with the kids.

We also had a "Thankful Feast" in J's class yesterday. Super cute watching the kids eat and play together for their "Thanksgiving" meal. And thankfully, J ATE lunch! He's always been my pickiest eater!

Anyway, I wanted to pop in with a card I made for Some Odd Girl's Guest Odd Girl Challenge. I've always been in love with SOG stamps so I thought I'd play along!

Here's my card!

I wanted to use a fun image for this challenge so I decided to color up Dancin' Kaylee. I'm a huge fan of Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance so I just love love LOVE this image! I also wanted to use up my stash so I used this Currant Stack of paper from DCWV for my card. I don't make cards with a lot of purple so this was a bit of a challenge - fun, but a CHALLENGE!

I used a bit of bling, a doily die and my new flowers from I Am Roses. NOW I know what the hype is about these flowers! So fun! And since Dancin' Kaylee looks like she's having so much fun, I decided to pair her up with a fun sentiment from my Splashtastic Summer Set from K Andrew Designs!

Wish me luck with this DT call! I'm keeping my fingers crossed too! :)

yay for a new card!

Can I get a WOOT WOOT for me posting something crafty and not a part of a DT requirement? :)

Acutually, I did make this card for a DT call over at My Craft Spot. You know me and last minute entries! *lol* I thought I'd give it a try - I'm IN LOVE with their cute sentiments and you KNOW how much I adore the perfect phrase for the perfect card! :)

I stamped this image a while back but colored her yesterday. I used some DP that I had on hand and made the card base and wanted to make the colors nice, fun, and SUMMERY - I'm a fan of Fall, but Summer is still my favorite season! *lol*

I have to work tonight so I have to keep this short and sweet so I can beauty SLEEP before my shift tonight! Thank you all so much for stopping by! :) Happy Monday!

The Greeting Farm's Fall Gardener Call!

When I found out about The Greeting Farm's stamps a couple of months ago, I thought it would be so cool to design for them - after all, I use their stamps on pretty much at least 80% of my recent projects now!

So, there has been a Fall Gardener Call (design team) that ends TOMORROW at noon CST. I was hemming and hawing about whether or not I should try out. I don't have really good luck with DT calls and it's more of a disappointment in my creativity than anything. I stopped applying for a while to give myself a break, but when I heard about TGF's DT call, I had to try out.

You never know right?

One of the application requirements is a take on a "Circus Theme." Hmmm, I thought to myself. What could I do with that? Well, a POP-UP card, of course?!

Here's what the outside looks like:

I used TGF's Showtime set. And used some glittery DSP to make it look like flashbulbs going off behind cute little Anya. I got the idea of making fishnet stockings from Traci (WickedPixie) and used my Copic Multiliner SP 0.3. It was tough getting the little lines parallel! I added some Diamond Stickles to Anya's hat and jacket to make her really shine... And I added some to the yellow "spotlight" in the corner too.

And now for the inside:

(It can't lay down flat because of the ribbon on the front!)... Anyway, I paper pieced the "big top" tent with my own design. I actually like  how it turned out!

When I started scrapbooking over 10 years ago, I LOVED making pop-up pages (easier to do with Creative Memories albums/strap hinge albums). They were a lot of work and they were time consuming, but I loved the reaction I'd get from people who would flip through my books. :)

And that's the inside... I punched a circle with a sentiment stamped inside and enough room to add something handwritten too. (ooh and I'm just noticing my elephant is popping up from the card. I think it was because I was opening and closing the card so much while admiring my hardwork! - I need to ad more adhesive. *lol*)

Even if I don't make the team, this challenge allowed me to really think outside the box and step a little away from my comfort zone. It's not your typical - buttons, paper flowers, ribbons - card. And I like it that way. :)
