ahoy + lots of challenges

Happy Friday, everyone!

I thought I would stop by here before heading into work!

I was able to sneak in some crafty time this morning while keeping the kids busy (I have pics to share for another day!) and I was able to make a couple of cards.

I'll share the first one today:

I had this image colored for a while now but only got a chance to place her on a card until now! I had already colored her red, white, & blue, but I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with her on a card until I went through my stash, looking for what I could find. *lol* Sometimes that happens, right?

Anyway, I made this card for the following challenges:

1. 7 Kids College Fund Challenge #25 - Red, White & Blue
2. iCopic Weekly Challenge #37 - Red, White, & Blue
3. All That Scraps - Anything Goes

It's my first time submitting a card for more than 2 challenges - I was looking through my challenge blogs on my Google Reader and realized that my card qualifies for THREE! I have no idea how people submit to five, sometimes 10 challenges at a time.... I'm just not that creative... or organized! *lol*

Happy Halloween!

As a kid, I really loved Halloween. I didn't love it as much as kids these days, but I made do with what I had. My mom made my first few costumes and then until I was 12, my costumes were store-bought.

When I was 10, a week before Halloween, I got the Chicken Pox really bad. I remember looking forward to that year's Halloween - I was going to dress up as a nurse. (Ironic, huh?). Anyway, my bout with the Pox was really bad and due to a virus I had to stay in the hospital for a week and missed out on Halloween that year. I'll never forget how sad I was.

And since that time, Halloween just never felt the same for me. It lost its magic.

But now with 2 kids of my own, the magic has come back and I'm enjoying the season. I'd enjoy it more if we lived in a house that I could decorate instead of our tiny condo, but that's another story...

I'm beginning to love Halloween so much that I had a brilliant idea to dress our kids (and our friends' kids) as Dorothy and friends:

My poor little Dorothy. I guess she really wanted to see the Wizard. *lol* Jonah's the scarecrow. His BFF is the Lion. And my BFF's son (my godson!) is the Tinman.

And what would the Wizard of Oz be without the Wicked Witch???

 

This card is for this week's Weekly Wednesday Challenge at All the Scraps! The challenge was to make a Halloween card. I don't have any C.C. Designs Halloween stamps, so I decided to alter Angel Emma and turn her into Elphelba, the Wicked Witch of the East!

It's actually my first time altering a stamp - I couldn't clean off the image well enough but hopefully you can't see it. I erased her halo and wings and drew in a witch's hat. I colored her green because of a FABULOUS idea from my best friend Corinne! I really love the way she came out!

This card is also for Copic Creations Challenge #14 - Coloring an image black! And I did that for her hat and robe! :)

feeling TALL!

I'm pretty short - 5'1" barefoot - so TALL isn't something I normally feel, not even in heels. *lol*

As I was cruising around my favorite challenge blogs this week, it seems as though there's a "tall" theme going around! Seriously - I think there were at least 3 sketches I came across and 2 themes to make your cards TALL.

Tall and skinny cards aren't something I normally do, but it was pretty empowering to give it a try.

I'm submitting this card for the following challenges:

2. All that Scraps Wednesday Challenge: How Tall Can You Go?

It was challenging for me to make this card because it's 4x7 (I think! I know the length is 7 inches, but I can't remember what the width is! *lol*). I hate wasting paper and to cut it into funky sizes makes me cringe a little. haha. I'm such a cheapskate!

I colored this Cowgirl Anya and realized I wanted to make her vest into a cow print, but I was too late! So I did the next best thing and colored her skirt into a cow print - I really like the results!

I used CP's Sketch 37 and tweaked it a little. I wanted a little more versatility to I put Anya outside of the half circle and added the buttons at the bottom. Does anyone out there have a MILLION buttons like me? I'm trying to NOT buy buttons and at least make a DENT in my stash. It doesn't seem like I'm getting anywhere. *lol*
