Today is pretty awesome because I can finally share with you my awesome news! I've been invited to be a part of the Birthday Sundaes DT and I couldn't be any more excited! It's my first Challenge blog DT and I really can't wait to get started... And it all begins with this blog hop right here!

For this special blog hop, I thought I'd use one of my favorite Anya images. Anya + holding a cupcake?! How awesome is that? And I thought it would be really fun to (finally) use my Cupcake Sizzix Sizzlits from SU!. I got them over a year ago and I think I've never used them - shame on me, right?

I'm also becoming a fan of utilizing a lot of white space on my cards now... I'm trying to step out of my one large piece of patterned paper + 1 strip of smaller patterned paper + some ribbon tied in a bow combo. *lol*

 Hello Saturday!

This week has been a little crazy for me - my schedule was a little out of sync from my norm so I had a hard time sneaking in time to CREATE! Not to mention, the weather has just been gorgeous and the last thing I want to do is stay in a stuffy craft room in the afternoon!

So needless to say, my mojo has been a little subpar for the past few days... But no worries - I've identified the problem and I'm going to try and adjust accordingly. Hopefully, I can get back ahead of the crafty game!

I thought I'd make another card to have on hand. It seems as though a lot of gals I know are expecting babies! I just realized that I'd better get a move on and bust out some baby cards!

This is actually one of my favorite Bella stamps - I got it from a friend. I've found that Bella images sometimes can be a challenge to color, though - especially with their small surface area. But it's nice to challenge myself sometimes.

I'm totally in LOVE withe colors of the paper... This whole card, minus the image, was actually made from an old TE Key Ingredients kit... *sigh* I still have a ton of old kits to work through. They're all stacked in my craft room. I keep telling myself that if I can get through at least half of them, I can resubscribe to the monthly kit program... A girl can wish, right??? But hey, at the rate I'm creating, I might actually surprise myself!

my first time sewing on a card.

Hello everyone!

I'm back with another crafty card. This one is a pretty special one - I SEWED (whoa, that looks really weird to me in all caps! *lol*) on it!

So anyway, I wanted to make the card special and try something new - sewing! Right now, my sewing area in my craft room isn't set up where I can keep my machine out and sew when I want to. I did sew another project and thought that since my machine was out, I thought I might as well give it a try! I liked it, but it was definitely challenging. I have to figure out my stitch size - I think I can go bigger next time!

I thought I'd make another girly card to add to the stash. I wanted to keep it super simple as a Thank You card... I'm not *too* thrilled with the way it turned out - it was one of those get-it-on-a-card-so-I-can-schedule-a-blog-post kind of day. *lol*

Hopefully my mojo can pick up steam again.

more adventures of kids in the craftroom...

So since my last post about my kids in the craftroom we've ventured to Lakeshore Learning to gather more kid-friendly supplies for their crafts. My supplies (and heart) couldn't take any more of their roughness! *lol*

Have you ever heard of Lakeshore Learning? Well it's a fabulous teacher supply store that has EVERYTHING you could ever want for some fabulous craftmaking with kids.

Here's some of the stuff I bought - some things are missing because the kids got to the bag before I was able to snap a picture!

I picked up some construction paper packs ($0.99!), foam cut-outs, large WASHABLE stamping ink pads, paint containers, and tissue squares, glue, colored macaroni....

The kids had a blast. :)

Oh and I picked up these art trays to contain their mess.

And what a mess they made....

Then it was on to the painting...

M had a fabulous time...

And J loved making his "palm tree with coconuts in the sun..."

finally finding my groove + lifting an Odd Girl challenge.

Hi everyone!

I think I've finally found my crafting groove... As long as I stay ahead of myself and have some images colored & ready to find homes on cards, I can get stuff done! I've found that if I don't have any images ready, nothing will get done and I would be sitting at my desk unproductive & with nothing to do. So... I try and color at night while watching TV with the hubs, or sneak some coloring whenever I can. I think it's working!

So this week's challenge at Some Odd Girl is to "lift an odd girl." I actually didn't think I would be able to participate in this challenge because I thought it would be hard! But to my surprise, it actually wasn't - I just found a card that suited my style and lifted that "Odd Girl". So I lifted Robin who lifted Kristy. Easy peasy - and FUN too! :)

congratulations to my bff!

A couple of weeks ago my bff Corinne had a baby. I wanted to give her time to adjust before I went over there to visit so finally I was able to meet new little Oliver and see my godson Mattie & hang out with her and her husband for a couple hours. :)

I came bearing lunch, dessert and a few gifts... And of course a card:

Kept the card super simple... I even made the inside look pretty but never got a chance to take a picture. I really love this October Afternoon paper - I think it's perfect for my BFF and her life with two boys!

Hi there!

I've decided that I'm going to really try and work on at least 1 Cricut project per week. This can be a card, a 3-D item or even a scrapbook page. To get me motivated and to get the most out of the cartridges I own, I'm really going to try and enter some challenges...

supplies: CS: vanilla & chocolate chip (SU!), pink & red (Bazzill); patterned paper: blue, dark pink, yellow (Echo Park); green (unknown); Cricut cartridge: Birthday Bash cut at 2 3/4" for the image, 2" for the sentiment; other: Chocolate Chip stamping ink (SU!)

Over at Fantabulous Cricut, there's an ice cream challenge going on. I thought I'd join in on the fun - y'all know me and how I love my food! This challenge was right up my alley!

It was my first time using the Birthday Bash cart so I didn't know what to expect from it. There are some really cute images on that cartridge though - I might have to revisit it again sometime in the near future! I cut all the images out and inked the edges with Chocolate Chip ink to soften them up a bit. I think it came out super cute!

my first joy-fold card

Hi there!

Have you ever heard of a joy-fold card? Maybe you have, maybe you haven't. I'm on the side that hadn't... until I decided to play along with this week's Crazy 4 Challenges challenge.

I watched this You Tube video to get the idea and here's my card...

And here's the view from the side to see that it's actually a joy-fold card.

The card was actually fairly simple and quick to make! And that totally surprised me since it looked like it was more complicated.

I'm actually a huge fan of this type of folded card.

I foresee making a bunch more of these in my future. :)
