I'm a HUGE foodie. I love trying new restaurants. I love looking at sites like Tastespotting and bookmarking favorite recipes. I have a cookbook collection that contains so many recipes that I don't think I'll ever cook in my lifetime! I love to cook and bake (but I hate washing dishes - don't get me started. *lol*). I have a million food blogs that I've added to my favorites and Bakerella is one of them.
A couple years ago, I was at my parents' house and J was asleep in the other room for a nap. I happened to be watching The Martha Stewart Show while waiting for him to wake up. It's not often that we remember first encounters with people, but I do remember I saw Bakerella on TV and her demonstrating her cake pops - I was in love! Since then her blog has been in my Google Reader and I've watched her popularity CATAPULT! I mean, seriously, it's out of this world. And rightly so - she's one talented and creative gal.
So when I found out she would be in the area for a book signing, I was super excited to go! And luckily my friend Melissa was just as excited to see her as me!
We got in line about 30 minutes before it was scheduled and were lucky to be numbers 35 & 36. I couldn't imagine being there any later! (and no, we didn't plan on matching today! *lol*)
And I finally got to meet a gal I've "known" on a local mommy messageboard, Heather! Such a coincidence that she happened to be in line too!
I also got to meet her friend Mel, who happened to be in line right in front of us. I think I found Mel's blog through Heather's and added it to my Google Reader. She's got some great stuff there too!
Anyway, before the book signing started, there was a Q&A segment. While that was cool, I'm super short and couldn't see anything! And my poor little camera couldn't focus on Bakerella herself. Darn.
Then it was back to waiting outside...
And more waiting...
Then we got inside and did more waiting...
And finally it was our turn!
I don't even think I got to say anything to her. I was totally starstruck! *lol*
But I totally had a great time today. I had made cake pops in the past (total FAIL), but I'm so inspired to try them out again! Hopefully when we finally get settled in the new house, I will try them out to celebrate! :)
Thanks for visiting today! Have a great weekend! :)
That's awesome! I saw this listing on San Jose Mercury News and contemplated to go! I get speechless too whenever I meet an author and it becomes this awkward moment as s/he signs while I wait [while smiling] and finally say "picture please?" hahah
