rediscovering my "style"...

Hey y'all!

I've got another layout to share with you today... Yep, it's another post from me this week! Eek, super exciting right?

So I've been trying to rediscover my "style" when it comes to scrapbooking. Sometimes it's hard because I follow so many scrapbooker blogs and while I think that all of their work is fabulous, sometimes their style is just not ME... Although, I try to incorporate bits and pieces into my work too...

Like, I love:

Ali Edwards and her storytelling approach.... but she uses a lot of muted tones and journals a TON. I don't have the time. And I love color!

Cathy Zielske has a awesome eye for graphic design. Love how she's simple. But she's super into using her computer and I don't have my computer next to my scrap space to do both.

Nichole Magourik uses her Silhouette like nobody's business! I love how she incorporates die cuts into her layouts without them being too much for a page. But again, I don't have my computer handy when I scrap so this doesn't really work for me - although I would like it to!

Susan Weinroth has such bright and fun layouts and pictures! I want to take pics like her and blog about them the way she does! Her layouts always are so fun!

and my latest love is Nancy Damiano. She doesn't blog very often, but when she does she blows me away. She is one of the Garden Girls at Two Peas and I joined her Scrapbooking Family Vacations class (for the ideas) and I'm just in awe of everything. She really has a way with bright colors, playing around with different product, telling the story, and just getting everything to just WORK. Love it.

So those are a handful of ladies I just admire. And while I know that their styles aren't mine, I'd like to think I take a piece of each of theirs and create my own. And that's what scrapbooking is about, right? :)

Skipping Stones Design Sketch #143

Good morning, everyone!

I've got a new card to share with you for this week's Skipping Stones Design challenge. It's based off of another throwback sketch from the past... AND this week's challenge is a little bittersweet for me as it's my last one as a Design Team Member for SSD. *sad face*

First, let's take a look at my card:

supplies: CS: White (Neenah), green, kraft (Bazzill), blue, yellow, red (Recollections); stamp set: Uplifting (Skipping Stones Design); ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento); Modern Label Punch (SU!); Swiss Dots Embossing folder (Cuttlebug); dimensional adhesive

I wanted to use my very favorite set from SSD and create a scenic card since those are my absolute favorite ones to create. Kept it really simple and sweet - no patterned paper, no fancy coloring... just one simple, perfect scene. :)

I almost can't believe I started this journey as an SSD Design Team member one year ago. ONE YEAR! That's HUGE! I want to thank everyone on the DT, the fans of SSD, and especially Heather and her fabulous stamps for making this year as awesome as it was! I've enjoyed all of the comments, the visits, the fun stamps to play with, and the challenges to keep my creative juices flowing. :) It's been one helluva ride.

In all honesty, I almost stayed on for another 6 months, but I thought that I would give other ladies a chance to play, and I didn't think it would have been wise - especially with a baby on the way in November! But I'm confident that the returning ladies and the new team will be doing a wonderful job. I really can't wait to see what they create!

slowly scrapping...

Hey all,

Summer has been busy, hasn't it? I'm telling you, when I'm pregnant, I have not motivation to do anything - I never feel like cooking and I really don't feel like sitting at the computer blogging. So, I apologize for my infrequent posts! Now that J started school on Wednesday (more about that later!), I have a tiny bit more time so I'm hoping to return to the blog world SOON.

So, I'm 28 weeks along tomorrow. Officially in the 3rd trimester! I can hardly believe it! This pregnancy is definitely the fastest of the three - I've been saying it all along. I felt bigger sooner, I felt movement sooner, etc. I'm trying to cherish all the little milestones that happen with pregnancy since this will likely be our last one, but it's hard when I feel so tired all the time! And I'm NOT going to miss running to the bathroom every hour!

I've been motivated to scrap - probably because I've been adding to my supply lately! hahaha And I've been trying to create a layout once a week... Here's one I created a couple weeks ago:

I used a premade kit by Basic Grey that I picked up at Tuesday Morning back in June. It creates 3 layouts and I got it for only $4! I'm usually terrible with pre-made kits, but I thought I'd use it!

I also used another storyboard by Kerri Bradford for my pictures. I seriously love using multpile pics on a layout but printing it out one time. Talk about easy!

I have a TON of pics to scrap before this baby is born, but let's be real: when does any scrapbooker feel caught up? haha

I'm just enjoying scrapbooking again and I really can't wait to start getting layouts into pages!

So my preggo brain got my calendar and teams mixed up so I'm playing along with the RED team over at Skipping Stones Design this week and joining them for the throwback sketch challenge. *lol* I'm telling you, having your third baby makes your brain turn into mush! *lol*

So this sketch was super fun to work with and I specially loved playing with my beloved Heartsong 2 set for the week as well!

I was also super happy to play with my Copics this week - it's certainly been a while! But the SSD Bras Vol. 3 is definitely fun to color! And of course I colored my bra pink - love girly colors!

I'm really loving the hexagon craze right now so I decided to break in the Hexagon dies that I had purchased a few months ago because the DP I used reminded me of a ton of hexagons creating cool flowers - I think it was meant to. *lol*

But anyway, I'm REALLY loving hexagons right now - I think I've said that already! haha I think the cool angles of the hexagons and the softness of the Heartsong 2 set really go together quite nicely and packs a really fun PUNCH.

Skipping Stones Design August Sketch Challenge #1 (SSD #140)!

Good morning, friends!

It's a new month and it's back to sketches for our Skipping Stones Design Challenges. We've got some special guests lined up for the month - we're welcoming Annette Witherspoon and Tenia Nelson as our guest designers and the fabulous Becky Fleck as our guest sketch designer!

However, this week we're doing something different and taking it a bit old school... We're going back to the Skipping Stones Design's first sketch and using that as our challenge for the week. Fun, right?

And here's my take on it!

For my card this week, I decided to use Heartsong - it's a great set, one of my favorites because it's so pretty! I love the beautiful cards it produces and it really lends to creating some awesome, classy projects. :)

I used some scraps in my stash - including some fabulous scraps from Studio Calio and voila! We have ourselves a really simple card.
