Skipping Stones Design Sketch Challenge #134!

Hi everyone!

It's time for a fun sketch challenge at Skipping Stones Design! This week the designers are all featuring cards using the images from the upcoming Margarita Birthday set!

My husband was taking pics of some stuff he's planning to sell on Craigslist so I was able to to steal a camera and take a picture of my project outside (I'm really loving this look!). Here's what I've created for you today!

supplies: CS: Bazzill, Neenah; DP: My Mind's Eye; stamp set: Margarita Birthday (Skipping Stones Design); ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Chocolate Chip (SU!); Spellbinders Nestabilities (Circle and Lacey Circle); Pennant die (Taylored Expressions); Stickles

It was really fun creating this card with this adorable image! Because, well, I admit, margaritas are definitely my drink of choice! That is, when I DO drink alcohol! That's pretty rare! *lol*

To create the little salt around the rim of the glass I used some Diamond Stickles - definitely a favorite. I dont' know why I don't use it more! Instead of thin layer, I put it on pretty thick to create the "salty" look. I think it works, don't you?

Skipping Stones Design Sketch Challenge #133!

Hi everyone!

Are you all melting in this weather like I am? This weekend got up to 106F where I live! Ack! Thank goodness for a tiled downstairs area and air conditioning! I don't know what I would do!

Anyway, it's Tuesday and time for a new sketch challenge over at Skipping Stones Design!

Check out what I've created for you this week:

supplies: CS: white (SU!), kraft (Paper Accents), pink (Bazzill); DP, brads, & plastic doily: from an old TE KI kit; stamps: butterfly (Breathtaking Butterflies, SSD), sentiment (Heartsong 2, SSD);  inks: Memento

I do have to admit I struggled a bit with the sketch this week, but as I looked through my stash, I came across some stuff I forgot about: namely, the brads and the little doily and I thought they'd be perfect for this card. I also decided to change it up this week and use a birthday sentiment since it's my mom's birthday tomorrow and I needed a card on hand to give to her! So yay for multi-tasking! I got my card for the week done AND a card for my mom done as well!

Anyhow, I'm hoping the weather cools off a bit so my craft room is nice and comfy so I can get some work done this week - keep your fingers crossed!

I think cardmakers are naturally drawn to creating cards with butterflies, don't you? They're fun, whimsical, and awesome to play with. Plus, they make for some pretty gorgeous cards, don't you think?

It's been a while since I've taken my Copic Markers to my SSD stamps and I had a great time! This image from the Holy Carp set is so super fun and I just love how this set is perfect for the men in our lives - it's time to start building the Happy Father's Day card arsenal! *lol*

SSD Featured Friday!

Hi everyone and Happy Friday!

Today's a special Friday for me - not only is it my hubby's birthday, but it's my Featured Friday post at Skipping Stones Design! :)

DH and I have been together since we graduated high school, many moons ago, and I'm starting to find that it's super hard buying him gifts! I mean, seriously, people. Being together for almost 17 years, what else can I give him that he doesn't have, that we don't already buy or save money for?

So, it's all about the birthday cards now. He doesn't really care about gifts, but he does care about the card. He really likes simple and thoughtful cards, so I thought I'd create one for him just like that.

supplies: CS: white (Neenah), kraft (Paper Accents); stamp set: Grunge 2 (Skipping Stones Design); inks: Night of Navy (SU!), Tuxedo Black (Memento); twine: Whisker Graphics

I decided to use my Grunge 2 set since it's so "manly." :) I really love the ink splatter stamp in the set so I used that to create my background. My sentiment is super simple - when you've been with someone for almost 17  years, you don't need a lot of words!
