2011 year in review...

Ahhh... December 31st... I can't believe it's the last day of 2011. Time flies by so quickly, I never seem to know where the time has gone - especially now that we have two kids! I wanted to do a quick year in review post for you all (and for my old lady memory!) to look back on this past year...

I seriously can't believe where the time has gone...

January... Ringing in the new year... "Cheers!"

In February, J turned 4!

In March, M turned 3!

In April, we welcomed the Easter Bunny at our house!

In May, we went camping!

In June, we went to Alaska!

In July, we stayed local and did a day trip to Gilroy Gardens!

In August, we did more crafting. :)

In September, we started preschool for M; pre-K for J.

We finally headed to Disneyland in October!

We celebrated Thanksgiving in November.

And we headed back to Disneyland in December. :)

Wow, what a year it has been. I could have added a ton more pictures, but I wanted to keep this post short and sweet. :) We went on many adventures, seen many sights, and I'm so grateful that we were able to do this as a family.

We can't wait to see what's in store for us in 2012!

And I can't wait to share more crafty goodness with you all as well!

meeting Amy Tan(gerine)!

Hey all!

So about a month ago I was able to take an Amy Tangerine class at my LSS! It was awesome - we created four super fun, unique layouts! Unfortunately, I was the ding-dong who didn't read the instructions and I totally didn't bring any pictures to work on... And sadly, the layouts I created are gathering dust in the craft room because I'm not good with follow-through.  (haha) But I wanted to share a few pics of that class day with you today:

I would totally take another class by a "pro" scrapbooker. This was my first one and it was great! I have to admit, Amy's style is sooo DIFFERENT from my own, but I liked it! Can you believe it? You all know how OCD I am when it comes to straight lines and keeping margins equal and even but this class pushed me creatively and reminded me that it's ok to just have fun and PLAY! Loved it!

Hopefully soon, I can get my butt in gear and finish those 4 layouts from that day. And if and when that happens, you can be sure I'll be back to share them with you!

Tiffany Tutor Vid: Coloring Folds!

Hi All,

I had a request on how to color "folds" using my Copic Markers. I am not, by any means, an "expert" when it comes to Copic coloring, but I do love trying out different techniques with my markers. That's the beauty of using Copics - they're really user friendly.

In my Tiffany Tutor Vid today, I'm showing off how I color the Dancing Dress digi stamp from Tiffany Doodles:

Skipping Stones Design Sketch #108

Hey everyone!

It's another Tuesday, the last Tuesday of December, AND the last Tuesday of the 2011! Annnnddd It's time for another Skipping Stones Design Sketch Challenge!

This week's sketch is the last one by our guest sketch artist of the month Jen del Muro. Take a peek!

I really loved playing with this week's sketch. And I challenged myself again not to color my image - I'm really LOVING this look! I also used the cute little cat from the Holiday Cats set and stamped only a portion of him onto the tag - LOVING this too! It's like he's peeking through a window, don't you think? Pefect for the sentiment! :)

Also used more of the Canvas Corp goodies that I've been hoarding collecting. Note to self: Need more burlap! :)

Super quick post today, folks! I realized that I forgot to share a card that I created for The Greeting Farm's recent DT call. Unfortunately, I didn't make it (*tear*), but that's ok. I'm a firm believer in thinking positively and if it was meant to be, it's meant to be! :)

There's also some SUPER talented gals out ther who LOVE The Greeting Farm as much as I do - there's a TON of stiff competition out there!

So, I'm thinking this may be my last Christmas card of 2011. I've been having such a great time creating them, that I think I'll miss them! But I couldn't resist eeking out just one more card using Kat's fabulous felties! These ornaments are my favorite! I also had to use my favorite Christmas sentiment stamp set - gonna miss playing with it for a while! :)

Merry Christmas Eve!

Hey y'all!

I think I'm pretty much in disbelief that Christmas is arleady TOMORROW. I've been done with Christmas shopping for a while now and all I have to do is wait for the kiddos to unwrap and enjoy everything.

Since the hubs is working tonight, though, we're going to pretend that Christmas Day is Monday. Thankfully my kids can't read the calendar yet so they won't know. But I figure that with my husband working tonight, he'll be missing church in the AM, we have plans for lunch at his sister's house and then dinner at our house. The kids won't have time for the Christmas morning joy in the morning and I don't want my husband to miss out on it since they'll be sleeping after his shift is over.

Anyway, I'm babbling. :)

So I've got another card to share with you today!

Kat Scrappiness DT announcement!

Hi everyone and Happy Friday!

I've got some great news to share - Kat, one of my You Tube pals, invited me to play along as she launched her new design team for her Etsy shop, Kat Scrappiness! I'm super excited to work with such a talented group of gals and play with some adorable and fun FELTIES!

I'll be sharing some fun Christmas cards these next few days... Here's my first one:

For this card I used the Holly Leaf felties found at the Kat Scrappiness store. I love how felties add dimension to an otherwise drab-looking card! I finished the card off with another sentiment from K Andrew Designs' Winter Wishes set. <--- another reason why I'm loving creating Christmas cards this season!

12 Little Reindeer!

I have a question for you all today... If you're a crafter, have you ever gotten comissioned to do a project because you're the "crafty" one?

I'm usually the one who gets asked to do birthday cards, thank you cards, appreciation cards, etc... And with Christmas coming up, I was asked to create a card for J's pre-K teacher on behalf of his class.

I kind of didn't know where I wanted to go with this project, but thankfully, one of the moms in his class steered me in the right direction with the creative ideas, and sent me a few links to several projects.

And I LOVE the thumbprint project idea!

I was lucky enough to get all of the kids to do a thumprint for me one morning before school started - it was kind of tough trying to wrangle up 12 kids before school, but I had lots of help from J and one of the moms (Thanks Julie!)! I had my cardstock precut into small rectangles and the stamping ink ready for each child, so all they had to do was do a thumbprint, I'd write their name on the back of the little card in pencil, and I'd wipe their thumb clean with a baby wipe I had ready! Yay for my organizational-Virgo-tendencies! *lol*

I created the card to be 5x7 because I wanted to make sure I got all the kids "thumbs" on there without cutting anyone off or leaving anyone behind. I figured a grid pattern would be the easiest so that's what I did. I was toying with the idea of creating ornaments somehow, but I wasn't sure how that would pan out, so I just stuck with it being simple. I think it worked, don't you?

I doodled the faces, ears, and antlers with my markers - I don't consider myself as  much of a freestyle artist, but I'll let you be the judge of that! *lol* I finished each little square off with some sponged ink around the edges and wrote each of the kids' names on the bottom.

I finished off the card with a sentimet from the Winter Wishes stamp set from K Andrew Designs & some ribbon from Ribbon Carousel. And TA-DA we've got ourselves a card! :)

The other moms in the class have already given feedback on how much they love the card. I hope J's teacher does too!

Skipping Stones Design Sketch #107

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Geez, I know it's been a while. Is anyone else out there crazy like me with the holidays approaching? I can't believe that it's less than a week away...and THEN the chaos ensues with all the toys, packaging, wrapping paper and MESS! *lol*

Anyway, I DID get a chance to craft a bit, so I have a quick card today to share with you using Skipping Stones Design's sketch by Jen del Muro:

So I know this card doesn't look like what I'd normally create - pardon the picture! Now that the seasons changed, I've got some crazy light to deal with in my craft room. *lol* Anyway, amidst all of the Christmas cards I've been creating lately, I wanted to create something fun and summery - so I used my very first SSD set! :)

Kept it super simple (no coloring!) and I added the fun sentiment on the outside of my 6x6 card, instead of on the inside. AND, I used some fabulous product from Canvas Corp - I can't get enough of these kraft envelopes and the little green clothespin is so CUTE! :)

Anyway, between the Christmas shopping you have to do, I hope you get a chance to play along with us this week at SSD! There are stamps to be won! :)
