Last week was J's last week of official preschool. I can hardly believe that we survived our first school year and that there will be more of these EVERY year until he & M turn 18. Time definitely FLIES once kids are in school, that's for sure!
I remember the good old days when I was a kid and summers lasted FOREVER. Now that I'm old *cough* older, time just goes by so quickly! Is it me or is there just not enough hours in the day to do everything that needs to be done? I have a huge to-do list about a mile long (not kidding) before my family & I go on vacation in a couple weeks. There's just not enough time, people. Not enough time.
Anyway, I scrapped this layout of J a while ago when I got his preschool pictures back (in November)... I'm just now posting this. *hangs head in shame* See what I mean about time flying?! *lol*
(picture taken in September 2010. I omitted the name & city of J's school for privacy.)
So I got this idea from the Stacy Julian & Big Picture Scrapbooking. She had a fabulous idea about documenting your child's school years and how to separate what you scrapbook (in regards to daily life, the baby years, etc.) vs. school stuff. The school albums are the ones her kids can take with them when they move out, get married, go to college, etc... The other albums remain in her house... I really liked that idea so I decided that, for once, I will do it and stick to it. (I still haven't scrapbooked any of J's 2nd, 3rd, & 4th years... and M? um, she's lucky that she has 3 pages. She's TWO now. *sigh*)
Anyway, my plan for J's school album (what Stacy calls the "School of Life") is to create a main page introducing the year (like the one above), scrapbook a few pages about the year after that, & then add a pocket page with some of the best work from the year. I'm going to try and not be to scrict on myself. The intro pages (like this one) will probably be digital since I'm using Cathy Zielske's 12x12 School Album Layered Template. The filler/in-between pages can be digital or traditional. It will be whatever I feel like creating at the moment. :) Cathy totally inspired me with her post here...
Awesome, right?
And just so I'm on track I even started the intro page to the whole thing:
Holla!!! :)
Anyway, hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for visiting!

J looks so darn cute! Can't believe he is done with pre-school! Great job and idea!

What an adorable picture! I know what you mean about time just flying by too! There really never seems to be enough hours in the day. I really like the idea of the school album and how it's kind of a snapshot into that year. Very cool!
